Along with two other actors from your childhood
We’re now in the second phase of the nostalgia trend taking over the entertainment industry. While the first phase was reuniting casts from beloved TV shows to make spin-offs and reboots — and the third phase is obviously spontaneous combustion from too much nostalgia — Phase II is pairing up actors from your favorite ’90s and ’00s shows in brand new projects.
On Wednesday (July 19), Aaron Schwartz from Heavyweights and The Adventures of Pete & Pete shared a set photo from the upcoming indie film Ham on Rye. “Had a little 90’s reunion on set today,” the former Nickelodeon actor captioned.
The film reunited Schwartz with his Pete & Pete co-star, Danny Tamberelli, but the film also created another Nickelodeon reunion. Tamberelli got to work with his All That co-star, Lori Beth Denberg, after more than a decade. Sure, the duo reunited at New York Comic Con in 2015, and worked on a special for TeenNick’s The Splat a year later, but this time they’re making something totally new.
L to R: Danny Tamberelli, Lori Beth Denberg, Tyler Taormina, Clayton Snyder, Aaron Schwartz
God bless Tyler Taormina (center), the director of Ham on Rye, for bringing these actors back together again. But wait, who’s that guy in the funky hat standing next to Schwartz? That would be Clayton Snyder, best known for playing lovable doofus Ethan Craft on Lizzie McGuire. Snyder shared the same pic on his own Instagram, writing, “When you sign on for an indie film, you really have no idea what to expect … I didn’t know how much I wanted to meet these guys until after meeting them.”
It’s unclear when the movie will premiere, but I can’t wait to see what kinds of shenanigans these guys get into onscreen.
